We are deeply sorry to announce that all locos and rolling stock loaned by the ABLC is to be returned by the latest date of October half term which means that J72 69022 is to be withdrawn from service and put on static display in the sheds as not to wear her parts down. Also, by then, we hope to acquire a new Jinty in midland region dark red livery no.16440 to recreate a typical Jinty double header with 47646 who during last week, received a proper coat of black paint with red lining. It is also hoped that with the selling of some of our diesel stock, we can purchase a few more items of rolling stock, preferably a BR mk1 buffet car in Crimson!
Today, Anglia Railways liveried 08 shunter no.08810 trundled out of Teddington TMD inot a crisp morning sunlight! She went via road to Rudgwick station where the WSR have agreed to look after her until her needed return to the DVR. she will be shunting in the coach sidings and moving locos to and from the sheds and sidings there! Also, BR Jinty 3F no.47646 has returned safely to the DVR with no faults thankfully! Hop[efully, she will be able to make more visits to other railways, but it is not certain for quite a while.
Today, the West Sussex Railway held a railfest gala! Some of our locos went to the event too! They included 67005, 47646, 4082 and Stepney! It was decided that as the Jinty '47646' ran so well at the event, the two railways have agreed for the loco to be stationed there for a few weeks for a full refreshed paint job, as her current coat started to fade off earlier today.
As you know, on thursday, the railway took SD&JR jinty No.24 out of service for a quick repaint for the WSR's Gala on sunday 22nd August. thursday saw an extensive amount of work being done on her. It was decided too that her right hand side valves on her smoke box and boiler were to be removed. Late this evening, she was complete, with the crews working on her all of the day and all of friday! With it being such a nice day, the chairman went off down to Purley in Surrey with matt Price of Teddington TMD to see Tornado on the VSOE and then chase her up to Victoria where they cabbed her!!!
It has been decided that as SD&JR Fowler 3F 'Jinty' no.24 is to visit the WSR for their anual steam gala with GWR castle No.4082 'Windsor Castle, she will be painted into BR black and be renumbered to her latter BR number 47646. work has started on her as can be seen in the picture bellow by Matt Price of Teddington TMD. As you can see, we have our work cut out, but we intend on having her finished in time for the Gala.
Also, a quick renumbering to BR 20T brake van no.E178499 into N.E livery No.178595!
